Phil R. White

Phil R. White is a Partner and global co-leader of Dentons' Transportation and Infrastructure practice, practicing in Construction Law. He is recognized as one of the world's leading authorities on the construction and engineering sector, particularly in construction disputes, and has been listed in Best Lawyers each year since 2006, being named "Lawyer of the Year in Construction Litigation" in 2016.

Mr. White has tried, mediated, and settled cases on behalf of clients around the globe through hundreds of days of hearings in forums including the ICC, LCIA, and KLRCA, with total amounts in dispute running well into the billions of US dollars. He has handled disputes arising from a broad range of projects, from 30 power plants across the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa to petroleum facilities in Equatorial Guinea, rail projects in New Jersey, and infrastructure in Qatar. Notable representations include representing New Jersey Transit in a light rail project dispute involving more than US$300 million in claims, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in US$600 million in delay and defect claims, and an international concessionaire in a KLRCA case involving termination of a US$1 billion concession.

Phil holds a J.D., cum laude, from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law (1985) and a B.A. in Economics, magna cum laude, from New York University (1982). He is a past president of the Liberty Northeast Region of the Design-Build Institute of America and has served as an adjunct professor at Columbia University's Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science.
