Michael J. Holtz

Michael J. Holtz is a Partner in the firm's Corporate practice, based in the Louisville office. He advises clients on commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory and compliance issues, commercial finance, and corporate governance matters, serving clients across the distilling, manufacturing, cannabis, construction, hospitality, and insurance industries.

Mr. Holtz has significant experience in regulatory matters involving the U.S. Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau and state alcoholic beverage control departments. His recent representations include serving as lead counsel for OrthoPediatrics Corp. in a US$100 million private financing arrangement and advising Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises on the US$177 million carve-out sale of its Diamond Power division to Andritz AG, which included a global reorganization of 21 entities across 12 countries.

Michael holds a J.D. from American University Washington College of Law (2010) and a B.S. from Indiana University (2005). He has been named to Best Lawyers: "Ones to Watch in America" in Corporate Law and Mergers and Acquisitions Law (2024-2025). Prior to joining the firm, he provided in-house legal counsel on federal and state political law compliance for a publicly traded tobacco company.
