Michael E. Silverman

Michael E. Silverman is a Shareholder in the Pittsburgh office, practicing in the firm's Corporate Law and Tax practice. He advises clients in negotiating and structuring mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, and with respect to transition, succession and exit planning, and serves as general corporate counsel for privately-held businesses and private equity and venture capital funds.

Mr. Silverman has significant experience in forming and counseling ESOPs and private equity funds, and representing individuals and businesses in federal, state and local tax audits. His practice covers exit and succession planning, recapitalizations, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and structuring and financing transactions with ESOPs. He has represented businesses and business owners, individual investors, universities, and institutional investors. His clients span manufacturing, energy, defense, chemicals, real estate, software, construction, and financial services.

Mike holds an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law (1990), a J.D., Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law (1989), where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and The Law Review, and a B.S. in Materials Science Engineering with honors from The Johns Hopkins University (1986).
