Jess A. Pinkerton

Jess A. Pinkerton is a Partner in Dentons' Atlanta office, specialising in Real Estate Law. He focuses on complex commercial real estate transactions, representing developers, owners, institutional lenders, private equity funds and servicers in the acquisition, development, financing, disposition and leasing of a broad range of commercial real estate projects, including apartment complexes, student housing, mixed-use developments, office buildings, shopping centers, condominiums and hotels.

Jess has extensive experience in structuring, negotiating and closing secured and unsecured financing, including construction financing, REIT financing, mezzanine financing and conduit lending. He has advised on numerous high-profile student housing developments across the United States, including The Standard at Athens and The Retreat projects in State College, San Marcos, Raleigh, Tucson, Tallahassee and Oxford. He also handles commercial real estate workouts and loan restructurings, and has represented clients including Post Properties founder John Williams on significant portfolio transactions.

Jess holds a J.D., cum laude, from Mercer University School of Law and a B.A., cum laude, from Wake Forest University.

He is recognised by Chambers USA for Real Estate in Georgia, named by The Best Lawyers in America in Real Estate Law, and ranked as a leading individual in real estate by The US Legal 500 since 2008. He was also named a 2024 Client Service All-Star for Complex Commercial Real Estate by BTI Consulting.
