Bruce Merlin Fried

Bruce Merlin Fried is a Partner in Dentons' Health Care practice and a leader of the firm's global Health Care practice, specialising in Health Care Law. He counsels and represents health plans, physician organizations, hospital groups, consumer organizations, health care information technology companies, pharmaceutical and biotech companies on federal health care programs and policies.

Bruce has more than 30 years of experience in health care law and policy, both in the public and private sectors. He served as Director of the Center for Health Plans and Providers at the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA, now CMS), where he was responsible for policy and operations for the Medicare program, and previously served as Director of HCFA's Office of Managed Care. He served as chief coordinator of the 1992 Clinton/Gore campaign's Health Care Advisory Group and was a member of President-elect Clinton's transition team. Prior to his government service, he was Vice President of Federal Affairs at one of the nation's largest managed care organizations.

Bruce holds a J.D. and a B.A. from the University of Florida (1974, 1971).

He is consistently ranked as one of the leading health care lawyers in the US by Chambers USA, The Best Lawyers in America, The Legal 500 and Super Lawyers. He has served on the boards of numerous health care organisations, including publicly traded, privately held and nonprofit entities.
