Simon Steel

Simon Steel is a Partner in Dentons' Litigation and Dispute Resolution, Energy, and Regulatory, Public Policy and Government Affairs practices, specialising in Dispute Resolution. A former clerk to Justice Sandra Day O'Connor of the US Supreme Court, he focuses on federal appellate matters and represents corporate, government and foreign sovereign clients in constitutional, regulatory, environmental, intellectual property and commercial litigation before federal courts and agencies.

Simon has broad experience litigating antitrust and consumer protection cases, having served for three years as Special Counsel for Global Competition at the Federal Trade Commission. He has also devoted substantial time to pro bono matters, including appellate, immigration and election law cases, and was named to the DC Courts Capital Pro Bono High Honor Roll in 2022 and 2023.

Simon holds an LL.M. from the University of Chicago (1990) and an M.A. from Cambridge University (1989). He is admitted in New York only, and his practice is limited to matters before federal courts and agencies.
