Rick Ross

Rick Ross is a Partner, Global Chair of the Hospitality and Leisure practice, and Global Co-Chair of the Family Office and High Net Worth sector at Dentons, advising owners, operators, investors and lenders on the acquisition, development, financing and operation of hotels, resorts and mixed-use projects.

He has over four decades of experience advising on projects throughout North, South and Central America, the Caribbean, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Australia and the Pacific Islands. His practice includes single asset and multi-asset transactions, acquisitions and sales of businesses, joint ventures, and the capitalization of hotel and leisure developments through equity, mezzanine and traditional debt financing. He also has extensive experience in distressed hotel and resort situations, advising owners, operators and lenders through economic cycles. Beyond hospitality, he provides strategic counsel to ultra‑high‑net‑worth individuals and their family offices across their for‑profit and not‑for‑profit activities globally.

Rick holds a J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy (1977) and a B.A., magna cum laude, from Michigan State University (1974).

He has received Chambers USA's nationwide "Band 1" ranking in leisure and hospitality every year since 2007 and is recognized by Best Lawyers in America for Leisure and Hospitality and Real Estate. He was named a Law360 "MVP in Hospitality" in 2014 and has been listed in Lawdragon's "Top 500 Leading Lawyers in America" and "Top 500 Dealmakers in America". He is a member of the Hospitality Roundtable of the American Hotel & Lodging Association and the Hotel Development Council of the Urban Land Institute, and serves on the Executive Planning Committee of NYU's International Hospitality Industry Investment Conference.
