David Hibler

David Hibler is a Senior Patent Agent in Dentons' Intellectual Property and Technology practice, based in the Dallas office. His work focuses on the preparation and prosecution of US and foreign patent applications, mainly in the field of biotechnology, including recombinant nucleic acids and proteins, transgenic animals and methods, pharmaceutical agents, molecular diagnostics, medical and analytical devices, and a variety of mechanical inventions.

Prior to joining Dentons, David served as a patent agent at Vinson & Elkins, Lexicon Pharmaceuticals, and other IP firms, as well as a Technology Analyst/Licensing Associate at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. His doctoral research focused on structure/function relationships in the bacterial enzyme Staphylococcal nuclease using site-directed mutagenesis, and his post-doctoral research focused on the yeast regulatory protein GAL4.

He holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Maryland at College Park (1988), an MPhil and MS in Biochemistry from Yale University (1983), and a B.A. in Biochemistry from the University of Texas at Austin (1982).
