Christopher D. O'Leary

Christopher D. O'Leary is a Partner and member of Dentons' Capital Markets practice, concentrating his practice on residential mortgage finance transactions. His primary practice area is Banking and Finance Law.

He represents investment banks and other secondary market lenders in connection with repurchase agreements and other bilateral and syndicated credit facilities secured by residential mortgage loans, single-family rental properties, REO property, mortgage servicing rights and other asset classes. He has experience representing borrowers, including portfolio companies and hedge funds, in financing facilities backed by residential mortgage-related collateral, including non-performing and re-performing loans, GNMA early buyout loans (EBO) and mortgage servicing rights. He has also represented capital markets participants in connection with the purchase, sale and servicing of all types of mortgage assets.

In addition to his asset finance practice, he has fund finance experience representing borrowers in subscription line credit facilities as well as fund guarantees of portfolio investments.

He began his legal career as a real estate finance attorney at the law firm of Thacher Proffitt & Wood LLP. He was recognised as a Rising Star, Securities & Corporate Finance, New York Super Lawyers (2015–2021), and has spoken on panels including "MSR Financing & Securitization" at the IMN 10th Annual Residential Mortgage Servicing Rights Forum (2024) and "A Deep Dive into the Excess Servicing Rights Market" at the IMN 9th Annual Residential Mortgage Servicing Rights Forum (2023).

He holds a JD from Boston College Law School (2008) and a BS from Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations (2004).
