Robert E. McCarthy

Robert E. McCarthy is a Partner and a member of Dentons' Capital Markets practice, concentrating in secured lending and the purchase, sale and servicing of financial assets. His primary practice area is Banking and Finance Law.

He helps banks, issuers, underwriters, servicers and major residential and commercial conduit purchasers acquire and service commercial and residential mortgage loans and other receivables, public and private offerings of mortgage-related securities, and finance assets involving repurchase, warehousing and other financing documents.

In addition, he has advised financial institutions and other fiduciaries on ERISA and employee benefit matters and related transactional issues. He has represented servicers and investors in connection with the servicing of commercial and residential mortgage loans, including licensing issues, and in connection with the acquisition and sale of servicing rights.

His recognition includes being listed in Best Lawyers in America, Securitization and Structured Finance Law, 2027 and recommended for Structured Finance by The Legal 500 US (2015).

He was formerly with the law firm of Thacher Proffitt & Wood LLP. He holds a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law (1986) and a BA from the University of Virginia (1983).
