Melissa K. Nelson

Melissa K. Nelson is a Partner in Dentons' Real Estate Law practice, based in the Washington, DC office. She has experience in all facets and at all stages of hospitality and commercial real estate projects, including acquisitions, dispositions, due diligence, structuring, financing, leasing, development, and operations. She represents developers, lenders, landlords, tenants, equity investors, REITs, and pension fund advisors, and has counseled high-net-worth families and businesses in connection with hotel acquisitions and dispositions.

Ms. Nelson has extensive experience in Florida, advising developers, owners, operators, and builders on the planning, development, restructuring, and operation of hotels, resorts, master-planned communities, and condominium developments. She has also represented regional and national landlords and tenants in leasing efforts across shopping centers, restaurants, industrial warehouse parks, office buildings, and retail spaces nationwide. She holds a J.D. with honors from Emory University School of Law (2003) and a B.A. with academic honors from the University of Virginia (1999).

She has been recognized with an "AV Preeminent" rating by Martindale-Hubbell. Dentons' Hospitality and Leisure practice, of which she is a member, has been ranked Band 1 nationally by Chambers USA in the Leisure and Hospitality category every year since 2007.
