Joel D. Siegel

Joel D. Siegel is the Office Managing Partner of Dentons' Los Angeles office and a member of the firm's US board, focusing on complex commercial litigation and class action defense. He brings over 30 years of success in trial and complex commercial litigation, representing US and non-US based companies in the consumer products, insurance, media and entertainment, e-sports, franchise, retail, transportation and hospitality industries.

He has handled high-stakes disputes involving cybersecurity and privacy law violations, trade secret misappropriation, false advertising, franchise enforcement, consumer fraud, and civil RICO and antitrust claims. Notable matters include successfully defending dozens of companies in California Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA) class actions, including the leading published opinion on the subject; representing esports organization FaZe Clan in a highly publicized dispute with a celebrity streamer; achieving a complete victory in the Ninth Circuit affirming dismissal of a nationwide class action against IHOP; and defeating a privacy class action against a digital technology firm on statute of limitations grounds. He has also appeared before the Judicial Panel on Multi-District Litigation and successfully persuaded the JPML to deny transfer.

Joel holds a J.D. from University of California at Hastings (1991), where he served as Note and Article Editor of The Hastings Law Journal, and a B.A. from University of California at Los Angeles (1988).

He is recognized by Best Lawyers in America for Franchise Law and was named "Lawyer of the Year" for Franchise Law (2026), by Who's Who Legal, and by Southern California Super Lawyers. He is a former chair of the California State Bar Business Law Section.
