Brett J. Miller

Brett J. Miller is Of Counsel in the Indianapolis office, specialising in Tax Law. His tax controversy practice focuses on both federal and state tax engagements, including civil and criminal matters, representing clients during audits, criminal investigations, administrative proceedings and litigation before the United States Tax Court, Federal District Courts and the Indiana Tax Court.

Brett has significant experience with issues such as capital versus expense classifications, inter-corporate transactions, economic substance, tax credits, valuation questions, hobby-loss issues, innocent spouse claims, offers in compromise, and FBAR matters. He also has extensive experience in commercial lending, real estate and general business law, including mergers and acquisitions. Prior to private practice, he served as a trial attorney with the Office of Chief Counsel of the Internal Revenue Service from 1983 to 1988, representing the IRS before the Tax Court and other federal courts.

Brett holds a J.D. from Valparaiso University School of Law (1983) and a B.S. in Technology from the Rochester Institute of Technology (1980).
