Alexander J. Padua

Alexander J. Padua is a Managing Associate in Dentons’ Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice, based in San Francisco/Oakland, focusing on Commercial Litigation. He is experienced in all stages of litigation — from pleadings through jury trial and appeal — in both state and federal courts.

Prior to joining Dentons, Alex served as a Deputy Attorney General in the California Department of Justice’s Civil Division. In that role, he managed a large individual caseload of civil rights and California tort-law matters representing various government entities, government officials and medical personnel.

Alex earned his JD from UC College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings). As a student, he served as a Production Editor for the Hastings Law Journal, a board member and competitor on the Hastings Moot Court Team, a teaching assistant for legal writing and appellate advocacy classes, and Co-President of the Pilipino American Law Society. In addition to winning multiple Best Brief and other national moot court awards, he was honoured as Moot Court Student of the Year in 2019.

He currently serves as an alumni coach for the Hastings Moot Court Team and as a member of various committees within the Filipino Bar Association of Northern California.

His recognitions include Student of the Year, UC Hastings Moot Court Team (2019); National Quarterfinalist, Wagner Labor & Employment Law Moot Court Competition (2019); Best Brief and National Octofinalist, Criminal Procedure Moot Court Competition (2018); and Best Brief and Regional Semifinalist, New York City Bar National Moot Court Competition (2017).

His practice areas include commercial litigation, and litigation and dispute resolution. He holds a JD from University of California, Hastings College of the Law (2019) and a BA from Patrick Henry College (2014).
