Ronald D. Kent

Ronald D. Kent is the Orange County Office Managing Partner at Dentons. He previously served as co-chair of the firm's National Insurance Litigation and Coverage practice and as a member of the Firmwide Policy and Planning Committee for 15 years. He is a preeminent insurance dispute resolution and litigation lawyer in California, recognised by Chambers USA since 2005 as a leading trial lawyer nationally and in California.

His practice spans regulatory litigation and investigations, defending underwriting and claims-related class actions, environmental, asbestos and toxic tort claims, general business disputes including trade secrets, antitrust and redlining. He has acted as coordinating counsel for insurer clients on coverage and litigation issues arising from natural disasters and mass torts. Notable representations include serving as lead trial counsel for First America Title Company in a series of certified and putative class actions with combined demands exceeding $750 million; representing Travelers in a coverage action against pharmaceutical companies in opioid litigation, prevailing at trial and on appeal; and coordinating coverage issues for Berkshire Hathaway affiliates relating to sexual abuse claims against the U.S. Olympic Committee, USA Gymnastics and USA Taekwondo. He has also served as coordinating counsel for Allstate Insurance Company on California wildfire claims for over 20 years and the 1994 Northridge earthquake.

Ron holds a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law (1981), where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and the California Law Review, and a B.A., summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of California at Los Angeles (1978).
