Erik D. Buzzard

Erik D. Buzzard is a Partner in Dentons' Orange County office, a commercial litigator with nearly three decades of experience representing clients across multiple industries in insurance, commercial and business litigation, including contract disputes, product liability and toxic tort defense.

He has represented insurance companies in coverage matters, including breach of contract, bad faith and tort actions, and routinely works with insurers and claims adjusters on the defense of complex civil litigation matters throughout the US. His practice includes litigation, appellate work, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution, as well as investigations related to complex insurance coverage disputes, including coverage strategies, defense of bad faith claims, rescission actions, subrogation actions and settlements. He has advised clients of all sizes, including major insurance carriers and reinsurers, regarding commercial general liability, directors and officers exposure, property losses, product liability, professional liability, environmental liability, builders risk, fire losses, aviation and motor carrier coverage. Notable matters include prevailing on motions to dismiss multiple COVID-19 business interruption coverage actions and winning insurance coverage judgments and defense verdicts for developers and commercial clients.

Erik holds a J.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles (1992) and a B.S. in Business Administration, Finance and Economics from the University of California at Berkeley (1989).

He is a former Volunteer Board Member of Radiant Health Centers of Orange County California.
