Richard I. Stempler

Richard I. Stempler is Chair of Dentons' US Real Estate practice and a leading member of the firm's Real Estate group, based in the New York office, practicing in Real Estate Law. With more than 25 years of experience, he represents institutional lenders, private credit funds and advisors, and investors on all aspects of commercial real estate financing, including CMBS, senior and subordinate lending, preferred equity, construction, triple net lease facilities, and other sophisticated financing structures.

He also represents operators and developers on real estate development, redevelopment, acquisitions and dispositions, leasing, investments, and green building (LEED). He serves as lead real estate counsel to a global private credit advisor on loan inventory originations and senior credit facilities in excess of US$1 billion, lead real estate counsel on triple net lease transactions totaling more than US$2 billion, and exclusive debt fund counsel closing on numerous originations across hotel, multi-family, industrial, and retail/office sectors, including Shari'ah compliant transactions.

Rick holds a J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law-Newark (2001) and a B.A. in Political Science from Rutgers University (1996). He has been listed as a Recognized Lawyer by The Legal 500 (2024-2026) and is a member of the Chambers-ranked practice for New York - Real Estate: Mainly Corporate & Finance (2025).
