Michael Montgomery

Michael Montgomery is a Senior Managing Associate in Dentons' national Health Care practice, resident in the San Francisco office, focusing on transactional, regulatory and compliance matters for providers in the health care space.

He represents tax-exempt and for-profit hospitals and health systems, physician organizations and other health sciences companies on mergers and acquisitions, joint venture formations, corporate organization and governance, public financings, and diligence organization and management. His experience also extends to antitrust review, nonprofit law, tax-exemption, licensing, and fraud and abuse compliance. Notable matters include advising on the April 2022 merger of SCL Health with Intermountain Healthcare to form a US$11 billion health system, and serving as team lead in securing a medical marijuana license for a cannabis client in Georgia, one of six companies awarded licenses out of 69 applicants. He also served as finance counsel on the ongoing financing to refund approximately US$1 billion in debt.

Michael holds a J.D. from the University of California at Hastings (2016) and a B.A. in political science, cum laude, from the University of California at Santa Barbara (2013).
