Kimberly Kerry

Kimberly Kerry is a Partner and member of Dentons' national Health Care practice. Her primary practice area is Health Care Law, focusing on health care-related corporate transactions, tax-exempt bond financing and the licensing and certification of medical facilities.

Her experience includes advising multi-hospital health systems, home health agencies, hospices and skilled nursing facilities on corporate governance issues, tax exemption issues, contracting arrangements and other regulatory and operational matters. She has extensive experience advising clients on Medicare/Medicaid enrollment and licensing and accreditation issues.

Prior to joining Dentons, she was a member of the health care group and family wealth transfer planning and trust and estate practice at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, where she focused on drafting complex estate plans. She also advised tax-exempt organizations on choice of entity and formation issues, federal and state tax-exempt status issues and dissolution.

Her representative experience includes coordinating, preparing and filing federal and state regulatory notifications and change of ownership applications in multiple states for multi-hospital health systems, with extensive interaction with state regulatory agencies and CMS. She has advised on licensing, Medicare/Medicaid enrollment and state reimbursement issues in an affiliation with a private children's hospital, coordinated and reviewed diligence and drafted offering documents for health care bond financing transactions, and prepared federal tax exemption applications for nonprofit entities undergoing corporate reorganization.

Her recognition includes being named Top Health Care Lawyer by the Daily Journal (2023) and listed as a Recognized Lawyer for Healthcare Service Providers and Insurers in The Legal 500 (2020–2025). She holds a JD, cum laude, from Santa Clara University School of Law (2002), where she was Managing Editor of the Santa Clara Law Review, and a BS, cum laude, in Business Administration from California State University Hayward (1994). She is a certified public accountant licensed in California (inactive).
