Michael E. Zolandz

Michael E. Zolandz is the Office Managing Partner of Dentons' Washington, DC office and Chair of the firm's Regulatory, Public Policy and Government Affairs practice, specialising in Corporate Compliance. He advises clients on cross-border transactions and regulations related to international commerce, focusing on US export controls, trade sanctions programs, anticorruption program development, and Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) notification procedures.

Michael has led internal investigations and regulatory disclosures under US export control and sanctions programs, and managed complex compliance enhancements for US and multinational companies across industry sectors. He has advised a Fortune 500 multinational manufacturing company on due diligence and compliance support for dozens of cross-border transactions valued at over $4 billion, obtained two specific licenses from OFAC authorising the acquisition of a financial institution in Ukraine, and represented a mining exploration company in sanctions delisting proceedings. His compliance expertise also extends to federal and state campaign finance and ethics law, lobbying disclosure requirements and FARA registration.

Michael holds a J.D., with high honors, from The George Washington University Law School (2001) and a B.A., cum laude, from The George Washington University (1998).
