Matthew Gruenberg

Matthew Gruenberg is a Partner in Dentons' Venture Technology and Emerging Growth Companies practice, focusing on buyouts, M&A, restructurings, venture capital, and growth equity investments.

He represents private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies throughout the investment lifecycle, from acquisitions to operations through to sales, divestitures and public offerings. Notable transactions include representing Veritas Capital in the $5 billion leveraged buyout of Athenahealth, Inc., representing Cerberus Capital and Albertsons Companies in the $10 billion leveraged buyout of Safeway, Inc., and advising on the $1.25 billion acquisition of certain retail banners from Supervalu, Inc. He also advises emerging growth companies on structuring, governance and commercial agreements, and has experience across FinTech, digital assets, healthcare, manufacturing and consumer retail.

Matthew holds a J.D. from The George Washington University Law School (2009) and a B.A. from Emory University (2003).
