Lee P. Whidden

Lee P. Whidden is a Partner in the firm's Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy practice group, based in the New York office, practicing in Bankruptcy and Insolvency Law. She has a broad range of experience in debtor-creditor rights, cross-border insolvencies, and litigation and dispute resolution, advising corporate and individual debtors, creditors, lenders, asset purchasers, trustees, and officers and directors of distressed companies in workouts, asset sales, liquidations, and in and out of court restructurings across aerospace, hospitality, healthcare, retail, and shipping sectors.

Ms. Whidden has represented clients in a wide array of Chapter 11 proceedings, including the owner of a vessel chartered to McDermott International, secured lenders in the Waypoint Leasing case, aircraft lessors in Grupo Aeroméxico and Philippine Airlines cases, and the leading Russian aerospace enterprise in its purchase of a US satellite launch services company (recognized as "Cross Border Transaction of the Year" by The M&A Advisor). She has also represented the SDIF (Turkish equivalent of the FDIC) in bank insolvency litigation regarding the largest bank fraud in Turkish history, and represented Chapter 11 debtors in contested matters and appeals including In re Verity Health System of California, Inc.

She holds a J.D. from the University of Virginia (1988) and a B.A. in English Literature from the University of South Florida (1985). She was a recipient of the 2021 USA Atlas Award Top USA Woman Dealmaker by the Global M&A Network.
