Kate Erdel

Kate Erdel is the Office Managing Partner of Dentons' Indianapolis office, practicing in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution and Employment and Labor groups, specializing in Employment Law. With over 15 years of experience representing employers of all sizes, she focuses on human resources‑related advice and counsel, helping clients identify legal risks, manage employment‑based compliance requirements and audits, and conduct internal HR investigations.

Kate provides employment‑ and wage‑and‑hour due diligence reviews in connection with corporate transactions, represents clients in employment‑related litigation, and works with executives and professionals on employment and separation agreements. Notable matters include providing labor and employment counsel for Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises in the carve‑out sale of its Diamond Power division to Andritz AG for US$177 million, including a global reorganization of 21 entities in 12 countries; serving as lead US employment counsel for INdigital in its acquisition by Novacap; advising OFS Brands on a $20+ million acquisition of Room, Inc., including executive employment agreements; and advising OrthoPediatrics Corp. on its acquisition of Pega Medical.

Kate holds a J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Cincinnati College of Law (2008), where she served as Articles Editor of the University of Cincinnati Law Review, and a B.A. in English Writing, magna cum laude, from DePauw University (2004). She is admitted to practice in Indiana and before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana.

She has been listed as a Recognized Lawyer in Workplace and Employment Counseling by The Legal 500 US (2025), included in The Best Lawyers in America in Employment Law – Management and Litigation – Labor and Employment (2024–2026), and named Best Lawyers' "Lawyer of the Year" in Indianapolis in Employment Law – Individuals (2026).
