John Fox

John Fox is a Senior Advisor at Dentons and a member of the firm's Public Policy and Regulation practice, based in Washington, DC. His practice focuses on Administrative Law.

John focuses on client development and services. Previously, he spent a 28-year career with Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd. During his tenure there, he founded and headed three departments—government relations, customer relations and community relations—all of which were rated the best in the cruise industry.

John has broad experience with issues concerning management, coalition building, political strategy and tactics, and client development. In the political arena, he served on four state commissions under four different governors of both political parties: the Florida Economic Growth and International Development Commission under Governor Bob Martinez, the Florida Tourism Commission under Governor Lawton Chiles, the Florida Sports Foundation under Governor Jeb Bush and the Florida Board of Pilot Commissioners (of which he served as chairman) under Governor Rick Scott.

Most recently, John was elected president of the Miami Seaport Alliance, where he and his team beat back a proposal by retired soccer great David Beckham to build a soccer stadium on Port Miami property. The proposal was killed in an 11-1 vote in the county commission.

His community involvement includes serving as Chair of the Dade County Easter Society, Chair of the Maritime and Science Technology Academy, a national board member of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, an executive committee member of the Jackson Memorial Hospital Foundation, and a fundraiser for cystic fibrosis research and for the Starkey Hearing Foundation. He is a member of the executive committee of the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Association, an executive committee member of three Super Bowl host executive committees, Chairman of the Bankers Club, an executive committee member of the Beacon Council, and a two-time president of his country club.
