Daniel J. Gerwitz

Daniel J. Gerwitz is a Managing Associate in Dentons’ Commercial Litigation practice, based in the Firm’s St. Louis office, focusing on Insurance Law. His practice focuses on insurance coverage and litigation, with extensive experience representing insurers in complex disputes.

Daniel has experience prevailing in arbitration and state court trials, drafting over 200 coverage opinions for national insurers and conducting more than 200 depositions and examinations under oath. He has handled dispositive and discovery motions in Missouri state and federal courts and is experienced in all stages of litigation, from pre-litigation to trial and appeals.

Prior to joining Dentons, he supported complex business and liability litigation, drafting discovery responses, dispositive motions and pre-trial filings. As a law student, he served as a judicial clerk in the Missouri Court of Appeals for the Honorable Judge Robert G. Dowd.

Prior to starting his legal career, Daniel served in the US Army as a tank commander, with multiple decorations including recognition and achievement during his three combat tours to Iraq.

He was a member of The Theodore McMillian American Inn of Court and a Judge Joseph Simeone Fellow (2018). His practice areas include commercial litigation, and insurance and reinsurance. He holds a JD, cum laude, from Saint Louis University School of Law (2019) and a BA in Criminal Justice (Legal Studies Emphasis), summa cum laude, from Lindenwood University (2016).
