Alexander Kurt Preve

Alexander Kurt Preve is a Managing Associate in Dentons' Commercial Litigation practice, based in the Oakland office, focusing on complex civil litigation with an emphasis on high-stakes business disputes and insurance coverage.

He has represented clients across a range of industries, including Bay Area technology start-ups, venture capital, gaming, telecommunications, and commercial real estate development. He also has substantial experience in government enforcement defense, including securities fraud, civil forfeiture, and insurance fraud matters, as well as regulatory enforcement actions, and has appeared in both bench and jury trials in state and federal courts.

Alex holds a J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School (2020), where he served on the editorial board of the Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law, and a B.A. in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. Prior to joining Dentons, he clerked for the Honorable Edward M. Chen of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

He is fluent in Spanish, maintains a robust pro bono portfolio in international human rights law, and serves on the Executive Committee of the Bar Association of San Francisco – International Law and Practice Section.
