Alanna Clair

Alanna Clair is a Partner and the lead of the firm's Commercial Litigation practice in Washington, D.C., focusing on Insurance Law. She is also a member of Dentons' Law Firms group and Insurance group.

Her practice focuses on complex insurance bad faith avoidance and defense, professional liability and law firm defense, and commercial litigation. She regularly represents insurance companies in high-stakes cases involving coverage disputes and allegations of bad faith, from demand letters and reservations of rights through trial and appeal, and has successfully represented insurers on a number of COVID-19 coverage cases.

She also represents and counsels professionals — lawyers, law firms, accountants, engineers, financial planners and others — in high-stakes litigation and grievances, and advises on privilege, professional responsibility and partnership law. She is co-chair of the Attorneys' Liability Subcommittee of the ABA Professional Liability Litigation Section.

Alanna was named one of the top "40 Under 40" Lawyers in Washington, D.C. by the National Law Journal in 2020 and one of Law360's "Rising Stars" in Insurance in 2022. She holds a JD from the University of Michigan Law School (2008) and a BA from Wellesley College (2005).
