Maggie A. Hanson

Maggie A. Hanson is a Shareholder in the firm's Employment and Labor practice, based in the Des Moines office. She focuses on employment litigation, employment practices liability insurance defense, and providing day-to-day and strategic advice to employers across a wide range of industries, including hospitals, municipalities, Fortune 500 companies, manufacturers, agribusinesses, and financial institutions.

Ms. Hanson defends employers in disputes involving discrimination and harassment, civil rights claims, FMLA interference and retaliation, wrongful termination, breach of contract, non-compete agreements, and OSHA compliance. She represents clients before the Iowa Civil Rights Commission, EEOC, Iowa OSHA, and Iowa Workforce Development, and has obtained a complete defense victory at the Iowa Supreme Court in a high-profile civil rights case. She also advises employers on policy drafting, implementation, and employee training to minimize liability and avoid litigation.

Maggie holds a J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law (2013) and a B.S. in Cell and Developmental Biology from the University of Iowa (2010). She has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America in Employment Law - Management and Litigation - Labor and Employment (2024-2027), and on the Great Plains Super Lawyers Rising Stars list for Employment Litigation Defense (2016-2026).
