Joni L. Ploeger

Joni L. Ploeger is a Shareholder at Dentons Davis Brown, specialising in Employment Law. Her practice encompasses workers' compensation defense, employment law defense and insurance defense litigation, representing employers, insurers, self-insureds and third-party administrators ranging from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies.

Joni has extensive experience in all phases of workers' compensation claims, including complex medical issues, scheduled member and body as a whole injuries, occupational hearing loss, mental health claims and COVID claims. She also advises and defends employers on retaliation, discrimination, harassment and wrongful termination claims before the Iowa Civil Rights Commission and the EEOC. Her experience includes obtaining summary judgment in a multi-million-dollar employment case involving breach of fiduciary duty and minority oppression, successfully defending an employer at hearing to limit permanency awards, and handling appellate briefing resulting in a favorable decision from the Iowa Court of Appeals. She also advises clients on mediation and settlement strategies.

Joni holds a J.D. with Honors from Drake University Law School (2012) and a B.S. in Political Science from the University of Iowa (2009).
