Katie (Katherine) E. Gral

Katie E. Gral is a Shareholder in the firm's Commercial Litigation practice, based in the Des Moines office. She focuses on all stages of complex civil litigation with an emphasis on defense litigation, representing businesses, municipalities, and insurance carriers in matters involving insurance defense and coverage, personal injury, product liability, real property, construction, and long-term healthcare litigation.

Ms. Gral manages all aspects of the litigation process, including evaluating potential liability, developing strategic risk management plans, advising on document retention and e-discovery, drafting briefs, arguing motions, and preparing settlement agreements. She has served on trial teams in both federal and state courts and counsels clients on risk management and avoidance. Her notable experience includes helping secure a complete defense verdict for a regional construction company in a property damage matter.

Katie holds a J.D., with High Honors, from Drake University Law School (2017), where she served as a staff member of the Drake Law Review and as a student attorney at the Drake Legal Clinic, and a B.A. in Communications Studies from the University of Iowa (2013). She has been recognized in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America for Commercial Litigation since 2024 and received the Iowa Defense Counsel Association Edward F. Seitzinger Award in 2025.
