Hugh W. Nevin, Jr.

Hugh W. Nevin, Jr. is a Shareholder at Dentons in Naples, Florida, and former President of Cohen & Grigsby, concentrating his practice in International Business and Tax.

He advises foreign enterprises and individuals investing in and conducting business in the United States, providing income and estate tax planning for foreign nationals, securing temporary and permanent visas and labor certifications, and handling the day-to-day legal requirements of businesses including employment agreements, sales representative and distributorship agreements, and federal and state compliance matters. He also advises on the legal and tax aspects of structuring mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures, and on IRS Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Program (OVDP) compliance.

Hugh holds a J.D., cum laude from Harvard Law School (1974), a B.A., magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Harvard College (1968), and studied International Economics at Freie Universität Berlin on a Rotary International Fellowship (1970–1971). He is fluent in German.

He has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© for Corporate Law, Tax Law, and Litigation and Controversy – Tax, and was named "Lawyer of the Year" for Corporate Law in Fort Myers (2014, 2019) and for Tax Law (2018). He served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army (1968–1970) and holds directorships with several companies. He also volunteers tutoring immigrant children through New Horizons of Southwest Florida and has served on numerous boards including WQED (PBS) and the German-American Business Chamber of Southwest Florida.
