Gary M. Roberts

Gary M. Roberts is a Partner in the firm's Environmental Law and Litigation practice, based in the Los Angeles office. He has extensive complex litigation, administrative advocacy, and counseling experience regarding environmental law, product liability, and false advertising matters.

Mr. Roberts has represented Fortune 500 companies and trade associations in California Proposition 65 litigation for more than 25 years, including cases involving food products, hardware, plumbing products, health care products, jewelry, and various industrial materials. He has served as liaison counsel in multi-defendant Proposition 65 cases and has successfully advocated for amendments to Proposition 65 regulations. He obtained court approval of a US$81 million stipulated judgment resolving air emission violations for the South Coast Air Quality Management District, and has represented clients before the California Environmental Protection Agency, the California Air Resources Board, and the US EPA.

He holds a J.D. from Stanford Law School (1987), where he served as Notes Editor of the Stanford Law Review, and an A.B., cum laude, from Princeton University (1984). He is a former law clerk to Judge David R. Thompson of the US Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has been listed as a Recognized Lawyer in Environment: Regulatory by The Legal 500 (2025) and by Chambers USA in Environment for Los Angeles (2010-2014).
