Daniel L. Boots

Daniel L. Boots is a Partner at Dentons, practicing in the Intellectual Property Law group. He counsels emerging and established businesses on all areas of intellectual property and technology development, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, licensing, unfair competition, and export control matters. He also advises on technology procurement and transfer, computer software and hardware licensing, patent and trademark infringement and validity studies, and the preparation and prosecution of domestic and foreign patent and trademark applications.

Dan's practice further encompasses E‑commerce, domain name protection and dispute resolution, entertainment and the arts, manufacturing, and media law, with a focus on emerging businesses and China initiatives. He has been selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America in Copyright Law and Corporate Law, and recognised in Chambers USA in Intellectual Property.

He holds a J.D. from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law (1987) and a B.S.I.M. from Krannert School of Management (1983). He is admitted to practice in Indiana, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana, and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
