Stephen L. Marsh

Stephen L. Marsh is Senior Counsel in Dentons' Environment and Natural Resources group, specialising in Environmental Law. He focuses on hazardous waste and toxic tort litigation, including matters arising under CERCLA, RCRA, the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act and California's Proposition 65, as well as insurance coverage counseling related to environmental claims.

Stephen represents local government entities, petroleum marketing companies, real estate development firms and Fortune 500 companies in complex environmental matters, including cost recovery lawsuits under the Federal Superfund program, natural resource damages actions, and the coordination of site assessments and remediation with regulatory agencies. He also advises clients on environmental due diligence, Brownfields redevelopment, stormwater compliance and climate change issues in connection with corporate and real estate transactions.

Stephen holds a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and a B.A. in Chemistry from Wayne State University. His scientific background informs his approach to environmental litigation and regulatory compliance.

He is listed as a Recognized Lawyer by The Legal 500 for Environmental: Regulatory (2025) and has been recognised multiple years by San Diego Super Lawyers in Environmental Litigation. He previously served as a Lieutenant and Naval Flight Officer in the US Navy.
