Michael R. Maryn

Michael R. Maryn is a Partner in Dentons' Pension, Benefits and Executive Compensation practice, based in the Washington, DC office, practicing in Pension Law. He has extensive experience in all aspects of employee benefits and executive compensation, including qualified retirement plans (401(k), profit sharing, ESOPs, and defined benefit plans), nonqualified deferred compensation arrangements, and equity incentive plans.

He counsels plan fiduciaries on fiduciary responsibilities, negotiates administrative services and investment agreements, and advises tax-exempt organizations on 403(b) and 457 plans. He also represents both employers and executives in negotiating employment, change of control, severance, and retention agreements. He handles ERISA issues arising in investment fund formation and operation, including real estate and venture capital operating companies, private equity funds, and asset-backed securities pools.

Michael holds a J.D. from the Columbus School of Law, The Catholic University of America (1989) and a B.S. in Economics, magna cum laude, with high honors, from the University of Maryland (1983). He is a member of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel and has been recognized by The Legal 500 in Employee Benefits, Executive Compensation and Retirement Plans: Design, and by Chambers USA in Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation.
