He has prosecuted patents across a range of technologies including molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, virology, pharmaceutical formulations, drug delivery platforms, diagnostic assays, transgenic plants and animals, and neuroscience. He also has significant transactional experience in IP licensing, sponsored research, and joint development and commercialization agreements, and assists clients with trademark selection, clearance, prosecution, and enforcement.

Matthew holds a Ph.D. and J.D. from the University of Iowa (2008, 2011) and a B.A. from Cornell College (2002). Prior to joining Davis Brown, he was an Intellectual Property and Venture associate at the University of Iowa Research Foundation, managing patent prosecutions and licensing University IP.
