Matthew S. Yoon

Matthew S. Yoon is a Partner in Dentons' Capital Markets practice and serves as the Firm's Global Financial Institutions Sector Leader, focusing on financial services regulation and consumer finance compliance.

He regularly counsels Wall Street institutions, hedge funds, private equity funds, domestic and foreign banking institutions, mortgage lenders, consumer finance companies, fintech companies, servicers and other financial services companies on all aspects of federal and state consumer credit regulation, and represents them before federal and state regulators, including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). His practice covers federal laws including TILA, RESPA, ECOA, HMDA and FDCPA, as well as state licensing, anti-predatory lending laws and other substantive consumer credit regulations. He also addresses privacy and consumer reporting matters under GLB and FCRA, and advises on federal preemption issues.

He is nationally ranked by Chambers USA for Financial Services Regulation: Consumer Finance (Compliance) (2020–2026) and recommended by The Legal 500 US for Financial Services Regulation and FinTech (2018–2026). He is a member of the Governing Committee for the Conference on Consumer Finance Law.
