Joe (Joseph) L. Champion

Joe (Joseph) L. Champion is a Partner in Dentons' Indianapolis office, practicing in the firm's Corporate and Public Policy and Regulation groups, focusing on gaming and entertainment law. He provides transactional and regulatory advice to gaming companies, professional athletes, highly regulated businesses and governmental entities.

He has represented casino operators, gaming technology companies, tribal entities, professional athletes, collegiate coaches, Olympians and country music talent. His practice includes gaming licensing, regulatory compliance, sports wagering, fantasy sports, social gaming and e‑sports. He has served as special counsel to the Speaker of the Indiana House and was responsible for drafting Indiana's gaming laws, including dockside gaming, problem gaming awareness and gaming tax restructuring. Notable representations include advising a leading social media company on loot boxes, advising a foreign sportsbook on US market entry, and serving as regulatory counsel for casino acquisitions, including a US$600+ million transaction.

Joe holds a J.D. from the University of Dayton School of Law and a B.S. in Public Affairs from Indiana University.
