Jennifer C. Whalen-Dennis

Jennifer C. Whalen-Dennis is a Counsel in Dentons' Real Estate practice and a member of the firm's Tax Advantaged Investing team, focusing on advising clients in affordable housing tax credit transactions, including federal low-income housing tax credits (LIHTC), various state low-income housing tax credits, federal and state historic rehabilitation tax credits and renewable energy credits.

She has extensive experience representing syndicators and direct investors in low-income multifamily and elderly affordable housing tax credit projects, and combining tax credit equity with tax-exempt bonds, state and federal subsidies and grants, and programs such as HOME, HOPE VI, CDBG, RAD conversions, and HUD insured loans, as well as combining renewable energy credits and historic tax credits with LIHTC. She also advises clients on tax-advantaged investment portfolio management, contract interpretation, general partner removals, negotiations with lenders and governmental agencies in connection with foreclosure actions, refinancings and loan workout agreements.

Jennifer holds a J.D. from Columbia University School of Law (2003) and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Vermont (1995).

She is a member of the American Bar Association Forum on Affordable Housing and Community Development Law, the Boston Bar Association and the Women's Bar Association of Massachusetts.
