Jackson Hwu

Jackson Hwu is a Partner in Dentons' Venture Technology & Growth group, based in Miami, focusing on corporate law, venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions, and securities matters.

He advises early-stage startups, growth-stage companies, large corporates, corporate venture capital funds, and VC funds across multiple technology verticals, with particular expertise in FinTech, Blockchain and Digital Assets, and Artificial Intelligence. Notable matters include representing Blockstream Capital Partners in the US$75 million Series B financing of Komainu, funded entirely in Bitcoin; representing Fulgur Ventures in the US$210 million convertible note financing of Blockstream Corporation; advising a Florida-based enterprise software provider on financing rounds exceeding US$85 million; representing a Brazilian AI-enabled used car auction platform on multiple financing rounds raising more than US$30 million; and advising a blockchain-focused corporate venture fund on portfolio investments.

Jackson holds a J.D., an LL.M., and a CBA from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law and Kellogg School of Management, and an LL.B. from Universidade de São Paulo – School of Law. A native of Brazil, he combines broad international experience at major global law firms in New York, Chicago and Miami, as well as legal departments in Brazil and the US.
