Grantland M. Clapacs

Grantland M. Clapacs is a Partner at Dentons, specialising in Construction Law. He represents institutional clients, developers, owners and subcontractors in real estate and construction matters, including contract disputes, mortgage foreclosures, mechanic's lien foreclosures, receiverships, quiet title actions, defective workmanship claims and commercial lease disputes.

Grant works extensively on drafting and negotiating purchase agreements, construction contracts, leases and other real estate and construction documents, and draws on his industry experience to facilitate resolutions that align with clients' project goals. Notable representations include obtaining a favorable judgment of approximately US$1.5 million for a commercial tenant and restaurant in a breach of lease claim, successfully representing a developer in claims against an architect and construction manager, and obtaining a complete verdict after a week-long jury trial for a crane supplier in a catastrophic damages case.

Grant holds a J.D. from Duke University School of Law, where he served as Executive Editor of the Alaska Law Review, and a B.A. in Government with high distinction from Cornell University.

He is recognised in The Best Lawyers in America in Litigation – Construction (2024–2026) and Commercial Litigation (2025–2026). He is a past chair of the Construction and Surety Law Section of the Indiana State Bar Association and a member of the American Bar Association's Forum on the Construction Industry.
