Ernie L. Cochran II

Ernie L. Cochran II is the Office Managing Partner in Charleston, Co-Head of M&A, and a Partner in Dentons' Corporate practice group, focusing on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and general corporate matters.

He advises private equity and venture capital firms, public companies, and middle-market and emerging growth companies, and has experience in a variety of financing transactions. He has worked on transactions across many industries, including technology, financial services, paper and packaging, aerospace, distribution, energy, healthcare, and real estate. His practice includes stock and asset acquisitions and dispositions, mergers, private equity and venture capital financings, distressed debt transactions, joint ventures and strategic alliances, recapitalizations, reorganizations and restructurings, commercial lending, real estate transactions, technology transactions, and general corporate and commercial matters.

Ernie holds a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law (2004) and a B.S. from North Carolina State University (2001).

He is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® for Mergers and Acquisitions Law, Venture Capital Law and Corporate Law, and was named "Lawyer of the Year" for Corporate Law in Charleston (2024).
