Bruce H. Chiu

Bruce H. Chiu is a Shareholder in the firm's International Trade Law practice, based in the Pittsburgh office. He devotes his practice to export control and sanctions compliance, U.S. Customs, CFIUS, international business transactions, data privacy and cybersecurity, E-commerce, and general corporate matters. He founded the firm's Data Security, Privacy and Information Law Group.

Mr. Chiu routinely advises clients on export control product classification under EAR and ITAR, trade embargo sanctions, encryption export controls, tariff exclusion requests, and data privacy and security obligations. He negotiates settlements for export control violations, structures cross-border operations, and advises on international and domestic product distribution and licensing systems. He has extensive experience with tariff litigation, having co-authored numerous client alerts on IEEPA tariffs, Section 301 and Section 232 matters, and supply chain compliance.

Bruce holds a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School (1995) and a B.A., cum laude, from Duke University (1992). He is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and frequently presents on international trade, export controls, and data privacy topics.
