Benjamin C. Weinberg

Benjamin C. Weinberg is the Pro Bono Partner at Dentons, specializing in Administrative Law. He works with Dentons' Global and US Pro Bono Committees and firmwide leadership to manage the Firm's substantial pro bono program, and develops new pro bono initiatives with legal aid providers, nonprofits, and NGOs.

Ben also helps firm lawyers establish pro bono practices that complement their billable practices and develops pro bono partnerships with Dentons' clients. Prior to joining Dentons in 2008, he served as Chief of the Illinois Attorney General's Public Interest Division, overseeing major litigation including the Walgreens and Family Video disability rights cases, Peoples Energy/Enron fraud litigation, and health care fraud matters. He also served as lead counsel on high‑profile cases, including the Kool Mixx youth targeting litigation against Brown and Williamson and the ComEd/Ameren reverse auction electricity rate litigations. He was previously an equity partner at Jenner and Block, where he tried five cases to verdict and maintained an active pro bono practice, including representing a death row inmate who received clemency in 2003.

Ben holds a J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law (1990) and an A.B. in History with honors from the University of Chicago (1986). He is admitted to practice in Illinois, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the D.C. Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

He is a Leadership Greater Chicago Fellow (2002‑2003) and received the Legal Services Award from the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund for pro bono work (2001). He serves on the Leadership Board of the National Immigrant Justice Center and the Board of Directors of the Law Firm Antiracism Alliance.
