Abraham (Avi) D. Piontnica

Abraham (Avi) D. Piontnica is a Partner in the New York Trusts, Estates and Wealth Preservation practice, specialising in Estate Planning. He concentrates on domestic and international estate planning and administration, with a specialty in wealth preservation through effective tax planning.

Avi prepares sophisticated estate plans for high-net-worth clients to minimise US income, estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer taxes through strategies including wills, revocable trusts, grantor-retained annuity trusts, qualified personal residence trusts, limited partnerships, limited liability companies, marital trusts, insurance trusts and multigenerational trusts. His international practice involves advising US and foreign individuals with multi-jurisdictional assets, and he also specialises in both onshore and offshore asset protection planning.

Avi holds an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law (1995), a J.D. from Columbia Law School (1991), where he served as Articles Editor on the Columbia Journal of Transactional Law, and a B.A., summa cum laude, in Accounting from Brooklyn College (1988). He is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
